Food

  • How do I dispose of my dry food bag?

Our dry food bags are made from natural and renewable materials, paper and PLA. PLA is a partly plant-based waterproof lining that protects the paper from the oils in the food. Our packaging is currently 85% paper / 15% PLA.

As the paper is compostable and PLA is industrially compostable, if your local council offers industrial composting, such as food waste collection, you can dispose of your bags this way. They must be composted in an industrial composting facility. Please do not home compost.

Due to the mixed materials of our packaging, our bags are not currently widely recycled in the UK. They are certified C/PAP 81, which means they can be recycled through specific schemes such as Terracycle.

If industrial composting facilities, food waste collection or suitable recycling schemes are not available, please dispose in your regular waste.

  • Are your recipes complete diets? Do I need to feed my dog anything else?

All of our recipes are complete diets. You do not need to feed your dog anything else when they are enjoying Beco food. Our recipes have all the nutrients dogs need to be happy and healthy.

  • Can I mix your kibble with wet food?

Yes, you can. You don’t need to as our little biscuits are bursting with nutrients and flavour, however, if your dog prefers a mix then our biscuits mix well. You can always try mixing a little water with our biscuits to make a meaty gravy.

Our food is available online and in independent pet shops up and down the country. You can find our full list of our stockists on our stockist page.

  • How long does your food stay fresh for once opened?

When stored in a cool, dry place and the bag is resealed, our dry food stays fresh for roughly 4 weeks once opened. As we use fresh ingredients, Beco food does need to be stored correctly.

  • How should I store Beco food?

To make sure it stays fresh, Beco Food should be stored in a cool and dry place. We recommend storing it in an airtight container or resealing the bag between meals, to lock in all those lovely flavours and smells.

  • Do you use fresh meat?

We use fresh or freshly prepared meat. No rendered meat meal. We use fresh meat when we can ensure it will arrive at our production line still fresh without being frozen. If we have to freeze it for transport, it is called freshly prepared. Our cod and haddock is freshly prepared as it’s frozen at sea and our wild boar is freshly prepared as it’s frozen to be transported from the EU.

Yes, your lucky dog will be grateful if you switch when you can. We recommend switching over the course of a few days and phasing them onto Beco food. Our recipes are super digestible and transition period minimises the chance of any stomach upsets as they adjust to a new nutritious diet.
