It's a global movement, getting businesses and individuals to pledge 1% of their income back to the planet. They've directed hundreds of millions of dollars to environmental non-profits around the world.
"Only 3% of global philanthropy goes to environmental causes."
We donate 1% of every sale to environmental and social projects. Every time you fill up your dogs bowl, treat them to a new toy or stock up on poop bags, you're supporting those working on the front line of environmental action.
As our giving is based on sales, not profit, the commitment stays the same whether we’ve had a profitable year or not.
It's more than money. Our sleeves are up, poop bags in pocket, treats in hand - we're ready to get involved.
Through your support, we're able to work directly with projects by offering financial donations, product and volunteering. Every project is unique, with different needs, so we try to be as flexible as possible. It's one of commitments we make to start paying our environmental debts.
Yvon Chouinard and Craig Mathews founded 1% for the Planet to put a stop to greenwashing.
They wanted to be able to certify reputable giving. In their own words “because companies profit from the resources they take from the earth, they should protect those resources”. They, and we, believe that collective action is the most powerful, so by bringing together individuals, businesses and non-profit organisations, all of those one percents really start to add up.
But to fight climate change, we have to also acknowledge climate injustice.
There is a huge disproportionate impact of environmental issues, which is why their goal is multi-faceted, addressing both environmental and social justice. They work to make sure everyone, regardless of race, gender, income or nation of origin, is entitled to environmental protection.
We see giving our planet 1% back as a small but mighty commitment.
Like 1% for the Planet say: “single collective action by a dedicated group of people can create a world of difference”. We’ve been able to partner with lots of nonprofits and continue to give back to our planet by donating, volunteering, and providing further financial support to the causes that matter.
